  • What is it about?
  • When and where did you hear it for the first time?

Life without music would be quiet boring and sober. I relish listening to music as good music revives my discharged battery and fills me with immense energy as well as upthrow my spirit after a hectic day of overladen study and lectures. Music helps me to focus on assignments when there is pin-drop silence around me. Earlier, when I was a child I use to listen to songs on a radio program at night on my phone, At that time I have nobody around to disturb me, it’s just me with my phone, songs, music, and my thoughts. It boosted my creative thinking remarkably.

I listen to various types of music from retro to rock, depending upon my mood, place, company, and time. But mainly based on my feelings. Today, I would like to speak about one song which is very important to me, its name is “Vande Mataram”. It is a patriotic poem indited by famous Bengali author and writer, Shri Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. The verse was designed into a song by Rabindranath Tagore. The initial two stanzas of the song were selected as the National Song of India on January 24, 1950. The song bears a similar standing as the National Anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ excluding some official oppress.

I do not exactly remember when or where I heard it because I was of quite a young age at that time. I guess it would be in my childhood years when I was in nursery or pre-nursery, or maybe I heard it for the first time on radio or television, or maybe in the flag hoisting ceremony of my school on Independence Day as in our school, there is a special program organized in which patriotic song and play were portrayed by the students. It is important to me because it is really close to my heart as it fills my veins with steaming blood full of patriotism. It makes me want to do something good for my country and its people.
