Talk about the most interesting part of your country

  • What is the name of the place?
  • Where it is?
  • Why do you like it?
  • Explain what influence does this place have on you?

India is a beautiful country with myriad visionary places. Being travel freak, I often visit many cities across the country. There are plenty of places where I have visited, but the place which, according to my perspective, is the most interesting is Agra. Agra is one of the major tourist destinations of my country. It is located on the banks of Yamuna river in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

In the second year of my graduation, I got the opportunity to visit this alluring place. It was my college trip which included 3 days 2 nights stay in Agra. I like the city because of the marvelous examples of Mughal era buildings and the glorious historical background of this place. In the Mughal era, Agra assumed the importance of the second capital. The major tourist attractions are Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri. All these are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. I was mesmerized by the enchanting beauty of Taj Mahal. As everyone knows that Taj Mahal is one of the Seven Wonders of the World, so I consider this bewitching monument as the ‘Pride of the Nation’. Apart from this, Agra is famous for its handicraft, shoes and leather work also. Agra’s Sadar market is quite popular. This place not only has a historical aspect but it is famous for its culture and food as well. Its mouthwatering Mughlai cuisines cannot be resisted by anyone.

And one can never forget to mention its specialties – Petha (a translucent soft candy available in different flavors) and Dalmoth (savory dry snack made from fried lentils, nuts, spices, and oil).

After visiting this place I felt so proud to be an Indian. I think this place depicts the theme of ‘Glorious Indian History’ in the best way.
